New — Updated Age Groups for Fall 2026

Starting this Fall, the cutoff date for player divisions is August 1. This change was instituted by AYSO, US Youth Soccer, and US Club Soccer in the Summer of 2025.

This affects players born between August 1–December 31. For the upcoming Fall 2026 season, players with birthdays in this date range will remain in the same division they were in during the Fall 2025 season. Children with birthdays between January 1–July 31 will experience no changes.

For more on this change, including info on requesting to play up a division, and players who just completed Grad Series, head over to the website.

Looking Back at the 6U–8U Spring Season

Just over 160 6–8 athletes participated in this past year's Spring soccer season. Over the eight weeks, the focus was on developing individual ball skills. These improvements became evident during the team periods, as more and more athletes began using the techniques they had learned to change direction and speed during competition. A sincere thank you to the people who volunteered to make Spring soccer happen for youth athletes this Spring:

U6: Ben Burglow, Emma Hartley, Mia Kellerman, Brian Le Coz, Holly Quinn, Mitch Moseley, Erick Rivera, Brandon Cisneros, and Brian Sanchez.
U7: Justine Perri, Ruben Zamora, Chase Gottler, Darren Cooper, Melissa Amono-Netzer, and Dave Crawford.
U8: Nathan Mellors, Victor Nuxoz, Henrique Quiroyer, and George Ritter.

See you in the Fall.

Salute to Spring Success

Region 13 teams continued to distinguish themselves in competition. Our boys U19 squad finished in first place in their league. In tournament play, the Pasadena Panthers finished 2nd in the Ontario Summer Blastoff, and we're incredibly proud of the Girls 10U squad for their 2nd-place finish in the Section 1 All-Star tournament: congrats, Scarlet Storm.

YOU MAKE
SOCCER HAPPEN

Coaches, referees, and team managers make a positive impact on our children's lives. If you've served in one of these roles, you've no doubt felt the gratitude and fulfillment of making soccer happen for so many kids. Are you ready to take the next step?

Region 13 is looking for a new cohort of Volunteers to serve on our Board. Each position presents a range of opportunities and rewards, and each is essential to making our upcoming Fall season a success.

Open positions include:

  Uniform Co-Coordinator
  Tournament Director
  Volunteer Coordinator
  Division Coach Administrators
  And more

If you're interested in one of the positions above or would like to learn more about other ways to help out on the Board level, please contact Patrick Shopbell, Regional Commissioner.

Letter from the Commissioner

Hello Soccer Families,

Registration for our big fall season is now open. You already know that AYSO Region 13 is operated entirely by volunteers. To ensure our 2,500 kids can play soccer, we work as a team of more than 700 volunteers. That's a volunteer for every three kids in the program. We hope you will be a part of that.

But today, I want to give you a break from the volunteer recruitment push. Really, what our fall season is about is giving an opportunity to every single child who wants to play soccer. There are no tryouts for the fall season. Every child is guaranteed to be actually playing soccer for at least an hour every weekend. We welcome 3-year-olds who can barely kick a ball, experienced 12-year-olds coming back from club soccer, and 15-year-olds who have never played and just want to give it a try. It's also why we have a "Pay what you can" model for registration. We want to lower every possible barrier to playing soccer. Soccer is for everyone.

So I hope you will sign your kids up for the fall season. We will be doing a few new things, and it's going to be so much fun. If you're hesitating about signing up for the fall season, shoot me an email at rc@ayso13.org and let me know why. What's stopping you from joining Region 13 this fall?

— Patrick Shopbell, your volunteer RC
